We are asking for your cooperation.
As you are aware, the weather forecast is calling for snow later today through tomorrow. In
order to assist with snow removal and also with sanitation pick up for our DPW
crew, we ask your cooperation with the following:
Over the next few days, if you have not
created a clear path to your garbage pails, please move your pails directly to
the curb to facilitate the collection of the garbage. If the crews cannot safely access the
garbage, it will not be collected.
Please make
sure any garbage bags are tied securely and the bags are sturdy.
Please keep your cars off the street to allow the snowplows to do their
work for both safety and accessibility.
When you use a snow blower, please blow the snow back onto your
property rather than into the street so that they can keep the streets safe
and as clear as possible.
If you live near a fire hydrant, please help to keep yourself and your
neighbors safe by clearing all snow from around the hydrant to make it accessible.
If you are walking, please wear something very visible so you can be seen
and be aware of approaching cars and plows.
For any medical
or fire emergency (other than a police matter), you should call 742-3300, which is
always the fastest way for the Fire Department to be dispatched (faster than
911).
While the Village is hoping that there are not any power outages, they always
remain a possibility. Please call PSEG Long
Island to report any outage at 1-800-490-0075. You should also call that number
to report any downed power lines. Please
remember not to approach any downed lines; always assume that they are
energized.
Lastly, office staff may be working remotely tomorrow. Please contact village hall via email at villagehall@stewartmanor.org for
any business.
Thank you for your cooperation in all of the above matters.
