Dear Resident
and 2020 Pool Members,
Unfortunately, as has been the case with so many things this year,
all has not gone according to plan. The Village has been notified that
there is a continual leak in the newly constructed small pool. Unless the pool
is completely emptied, our Contractor informed us that the leak cannot be
determined.
Since we have not been provided an assurance of personal safety
from our engineers, the Board is proceeding on the advice of our Village
Counsel and has made the difficult decision not to open the small pool and
splashpad as was planned for Aug 1. We felt that Safety is
most important and MUST be our primary concern.
As such, the Village will be refunding your 2020 membership fee in
full. We will work as diligently as possible to get your refunded
membership fee to you, but please allow at least a couple of weeks to receive a
check.
We will continue the pool season as it is currently
operating. The large pool only will be open. All Stewart Manor
residents, as well as all non-residents who had submitted a 2020 membership,
will be permitted to use the pool at a daily fee of $5 per person per day for
the remainder of the season. This usage will continue to be on a first
come, first served basis as capacity restrictions remain in place.
Also, realizing the difficulty of
this decision, and the expectancy of offering a recreational outlet for our
young children, our pool staff will be working on a plan to provide some time
for our youngest swimmers (ages 5 and under) to safely use the large pool with
exclusive designated time periods. You will be notified when those
details have been worked out.
We regret that we were not able to provide the season in the way
we had hoped, but must make the safety of all a first priority.
