Today our Village is disheartened with extremely sad news……..

Former Mayor Sal Manfre has passed on Thursday, March 12, at the age of 57.

He was elected to the office of Trustee on March 18, 2003, serving one four-year term.  He later served as Mayor from 2007 to 2009, at a time where his leadership proved pivotal in moving our Village forward. In 2009, under Sal’s leadership, the Village opened the renovated Stewart Manor Pool, completed a new license agreement for the Stewart Manor Country Club and purchased the Quint fire truck.

Sal was known as a Mayor with a soft voice, bright smile and commanding presence.

It is always difficult to report the passing of any volunteer, but more saddened when we announce the passing of a distinguished Mayor of Stewart Manor.

The Village extends its sincerest condolences to his wife Eileen and his three children, Victoria, Matthew and Jonathan.  In honor of Sal’s passing, I have ordered the flags in the Village to be flown at half-staff.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 15th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Thomas F Dalton Funeral Home NHP, 125 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park, NY 11040.  The funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 16th at 10 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church.
