OF LIFE CONCERNS
Now that the summer is almost upon us,
more and more residents are taking advantage of the beautiful weather and are walking
our tree lined streets. Several of them
have expressed concern over some quality of life items. We need to draw them to your attention so we
can ask for your assistance in addressing them.
Hedges and Shrubs Blocking Sidewalks.
When you maintain your grass, please don’t forget to trim all hedges,
shrubs or anything else that overhangs the sidewalk and prevents easy passage for pedestrians,
wheelchairs and strollers. If a village tree is blocking the sidewalk with low
limbs, please let us know.
Cars Blocking Sidewalks. We also ask your cooperation in being
mindful of those who use the sidewalks when you park your car. Please always pull up as far as you can in
your driveway and do not block any portion of the sidewalk or apron,
particularly during daytime hours.
We are receiving an increasing number of complaints about people not
picking up after their dogs or allowing their dogs to “do their business” on
the lawns, sidewalks and strip of grass between the sidewalk and the
street. All dogs should be curbed and
pet waste picked up immediately.
Fire Pits. The Board is considering enacting a law
to limit the use of fire pits as a result of complaints received and in the
interest of public safety, given the recent house fire. Please be considerate of your neighbors. Some
are physically bothered and/or harmed by the smoke generated by wood burning
All landscapers must be licensed by the village. Please check with your
landscaper to be sure they have a 2018 Stewart Manor License (which should be
displayed on their truck). Landscapers must bag all debris they generate from
your property. They cannot leave it for
sanitation crews or blow it into the street. Landscapers can work Monday to Friday,
8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and
Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Thank you for your cooperation with all of
the above to help preserve the enjoyment of the village
