ECYCLING DRIVE
The Village
has arranged to host an e-cycling drive for its residents in the Stewart Manor
Pool Parking Lot tomorrow, Saturday,
May 9, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Village can
no longer legally collect electronics curbside due to the NYS Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act. Please take advantage of the
drive tomorrow for these items. There
will be a truck and workers from E-Works collecting all electronics that you
wish to dispose of. This includes
computers, components, televisions, VCRs, DVD Players, video game consoles and
all other electronic equipment which can no longer be placed in the trash (see
list below). Appliances are NOT included
in this drive. You must bring your
electronics to the parking lot during this time. The Village cannot legally collect and store
any such materials in preparation for the drive. The Village plans on hosting such a drive
every few months but the next date has not yet been set.
Please note
that this drive is for electronics only and is NOT for Household
Hazardous Waste that are disposed of through the Town’s S.T.O.P. Program. The next date for that program is Saturday,
May 16th in South Bellmore at the Newbridge Road Park.
The Town of
Hempstead is also holding such ecycling drives, currently four times a year,
with the next drive Sunday, August 2nd in the Levittown Town Parking
Field L2 (for more information, see the Town of Hempstead website).
POOL MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS HAVE BEEN MAILED
Pool Membership applications were just mailed
to every household in the Village and to all non-residents who were pool
members last year. Please return them by
May 29th to take advantage of the discounted rates. The pool will
open for the season at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 19th. Again this year, a waiting list is being
established for all non-Stewart Manor residents who were not pool members last
season. The waiting list applications
are be available at the Village Hall or on the Village website under the “Pool”
section. Anyone who submits such an
application will be offered pool membership on a lottery basis, right after the
beginning of the season, once the number of available openings is known. If you know anyone who is not a resident who
was a pool member last year, please remind them that they must return their
application to the Village by June 10th or they will also be placed
on the waiting list. This was necessary
after a large increase in memberships over the past few years and a concern for
the capacity of the pool.
