The Village has arranged to host an e-cycling drive for its residents in the Stewart Manor Pool Parking Lot on Saturday, May 9, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Since January 1, 2015, the Village has been unable to collect electronics curbside due to the NYS Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act. Now, consumers may no longer dispose of certain
types of electronic equipment at curbside for trash pickup.
There will be a truck and workers from E-Works collecting all electronics that you wish to dispose of. This includes computers, components, televisions, VCRs, DVD Players, video game consoles and all other electronic
equipment which can no longer be placed in the trash (see list below). Appliances are NOT included in this drive. You must bring your electronics to the parking lot during this time. The Village cannot legally collect and store any such materials in preparation for the drive. The Village plans on hosting such a drive every few months but the next date has not yet been set.
Please note that this drive is for electronics only and is NOT for Household Hazardous Waste that are disposed of through the Town's S.T.O.P. Program. The next date for that program is Saturday, May 16th in South
Bellmore at the Newbridge Road Park.
The Town of Hempstead is also holding such ecycling drives, currently four times a year, with the next drive Sunday, May 3rd in Point Lookout Town Park and the next Sunday, August 2nd in the Levittown Town Parking Field L2 (for more information, see the Town of Hempstead website).
