Public Hearing and Board Meeting

The next meeting of the Village Board will be held on Tuesday, March 4th at 8 p.m. The meeting will begin with a Public Hearing to consider participation in the Community Development Block Grant Program, 40th Year.  The regular meeting will take place immediately following this hearing.

Election Information

The Village election will be held on March 18, 2014 from noon until 9 pm in the Village Hall.  There are three candidates for the two Trustee positions with one year terms.

The candidates who will appear on the ballot are as follows:

William Grogan, Independent Unity Party

           Orlando Sa, Village Party

Mary Carole Schafenberg, Village Party

In order to vote in the Village election, you must be registered with the Nassau County Board of Elections at your Stewart Manor address.  Many people forget to change their voter registration when they move.  The form is available at the New York State Board of Elections website or on the Village's website.  The County must receive all new registrations by Friday, March 7th, at the latest, for one to be eligible to vote in the March 18th election. Absentee ballots are available for limited circumstances.  Absentee ballot applications can be obtained at the Village Hall.

Also, on the 18th, all residents who reside in the Fernwood Terrace Library Funding District will be voting to approve the new five year contract and budget with the Garden City Library as mandated by law.  The contract with Garden City Library will be slightly decreasing in price.

Pool Employment

The Village of Stewart Manor will accept applications for new employees for the upcoming Stewart Manor Pool season through Monday, March 31, 2014 at the
Village Hall and on the Village website, www.stewartmanor.org.  You must be at least 16 years of age at the time of your application to qualify for employment.  Preference in hiring will be given to qualified Stewart Manor residents.

We are still evaluating our staffing needs for the upcoming season and not sure if we will have any openings, either for Lifeguards or Recreation attendants.  You are welcome to pick up an application for either position. Filing an application is not a guarantee of employment.

No Lifeguard applications will be accepted unless a candidate has all required certifications with valid dates through September 2014 (Nassau County Lifeguard , CPR and proper working papers, if under 18 years of age) and provides proof of such with their application.

No Recreation Attendant applications for those under the age of 18 will be accepted without the proper Working Papers.
